This past Sunday we celebrated our 3rd anniversary as a church! With over 500 people at our Sunday service, we are blown away with what God is doing among us.
You may or may not know that Antioch started out by meeting in our lead pastor's home. Small groups of people gathered for worship, teaching, and a family style dinner each Sunday evening. Those groups quickly grew to over 100 people meeting in the Griffin's living room! It was a bit crammed but we loved it. To make room for more growth, we hotel hopped for a bit and then landed at Dunham where we've enjoyed more space for almost two years. In the past three years, we've seen God do so much. People's lives have been transformed by the Gospel and by community. We've sent multiple overseas mission trips and just a few Sundays ago, we sent out our first long term missionary to Africa! Check out our full timeline as a church here.
In our opinion, there is no better way to celebrate a church anniversary than with baptisms and a jambalaya lunch for everyone! Seven people were baptized outside (yes, still in a truck bed!) with a large crowd to cheer them on and rejoice over God's work in their lives.
It was so faith building and encouraging to hear why people chose to get baptized this Sunday:
“Last time I was baptized I was two years old and I didn’t really know what it was about. Now that I am older and I know His will, I’ve decided to start a new life with Him.” -Ludovic
“I really love the Lord and I want to commit myself fully to Jesus.” -Olivia
“I’ve been baptized before but it was just me going through the motions. Now I’ve renewed my faith with the Lord and I want to renew my life by being baptized today!” -Nicholas
“I want to get baptized because God loved me first and He has gotten me through a lot.” -Byron
“I decided to get baptized because God has been so apparent in the last few months of my life and I want to show that I am one hundred percent committed to whatever His plan is for me.”-Abigail
“Recently I’ve been seeing amazing things in my studies [about God] and I want to devote myself by my own choice.” -Justin
“He has rocked my world in so many ways, more than I could’ve imagined. I want to get baptized to deepen my relationship with God and I want more of Him!” -Suyapa
What a joy to see these people decide to publicly proclaim their faith in God and commitment to follow Jesus for the rest of their lives! After the baptisms, we ate together and had a blast enjoying church fellowship and meeting new people. Thank you to all who joined us for this celebration!
Side note: We do baptisms regularly! If you are interested in getting baptized, please talk to your Lifegroup leader. Aren't involved in a Lifegroup? Check out our Lifegroup page here.
We are thankful for all God has done and can't wait to see what He has planned next!
